Ed Cavallini's Gala Send-off

Here are some photo highlights from our celebration of Ed Cavallini at the June 14, 2000 meeting. Ed retired as Milpitas Community Librarian and will live with his wife, Jeanne, in Carmel.

Bob Keely, Milpitas Library Commission Chairman and Archives Director of the Society, led off with a report of our firetruck restoration. Here he relates an anecdote about Ed.

Over 40 community leaders attended the celebration.

Mabel Mattos did another incredible job as Hospitality Director. Above, Helen Terra was one who partook of a delicious assortment of turkey, ham, beef, pastami, cheeses, breads, cakes, and punch.

Many of us went back for second helpings. Here Ed returns for more.

Ed spoke of his many years as our city's librarian and of his service to the Historical Society.

Some celebrants found Ed's voice very soothing. Here Baby Laura snoozes as mother Jenny Hare enjoys raconteur Cavallini.

Mayor Henry Manayan, who gave an eloquent tribute to Ed, and Commissioner Rob Means were among the dignitaries in attendance.

Commissioners Bob McGuire and Bob Keely share a reflection of Ed while Irma Munzel and daughter Ellie enjoy a humorous anecdote in the background.

We will all miss seeing Ed around. However, he promised to come back to visit us from time to time.
